Our people are the most important asset of Fortuna.  They take care of our cows and are skilled custodians of the land.  They make sure milk production is high, innovation is constant and that we're constantly moving forward with a culture of hard-work. Mike Fleming

Executive Chairman

Mike Fleming is Executive Chair of Fortuna Group, currently leading the business through a CEO transition until a new appointment is made. His focus is on supporting the Executive Leadership Team to deliver a high-performing, disciplined operation. Mike brings extensive governance and executive experience across large-scale dairy and agribusiness, including leadership of businesses with significant assets, complex capital structures, and multi-site operations. He is known for strong capital allocation, building high-performing teams, and creating a culture of accountability. Mike operates with a clear business rhythm and a practical, results-focused approach to driving sustainable performance.

David Dodunski

Non-independent Director & Company Advisor

David and his wife Kay are the founders of Fortuna Group. David held the role of Managing Director for two years before becoming Executive Director. Born in the Bay of Plenty and employed as a building apprentice in Rotorua, David moved on from building and tackled sharemilking on one of the steepest dairy farms in the country, starting with 31 cows on town supply and increasing to 160 cows on factory supply. Over the past 20 years he has successfully converted and developed over 30 blocks of land and is currently milking 3500 cows, most 100 percent owned and some as joint ventures. He owns the support land on all of his dairy units, which have all been designed to a high standard with a genuine desire to look after the farmland.

Dr Tom Richardson

Independent Director

Tom was a scientist specialising in developing and commercialising molecular genetic techniques for plant and animal breeding and ecological applications before spending over 20 years in executive roles within the New Zealand and Australian science systems. These roles included the Chief Executive at AgResearch and the New Zealand Forestry Research Institute (Scion) and Chief of the Forests and Forest Products Division at Australia’s CSIRO. Tom is a frequent contributor to advisory boards, international review panels and science and trade delegations, including both the NZ-USA and NZ-EU Joint Commissions on Science and Technology Co-Operation.He has held numerous industry, scientific and education governance roles over the past 15 years. Tom has degrees from Bucknell University and Pennsylvania State University (PhD) and in 2013 was made a lifetime Alumni Fellow by Pennsylvania State University for his contributions to science.

Neil McAra

Independent Director

Neil is the Managing Partner of South and Head of Agribusiness at Findex, where he leads over 100 staff with a focus on delivering absolute value and expertise to clients. He has 20 years experience in accounting and advisory services, particularly agriculture, manufacturing, estate & succession planning, corporate finance, business advisory, accounting, fishing, building and construction. Neil is also a Director at Real Journeys and the current Chairman of the Southland Chamber of Commerce. He holds a BCom in Accounting from Otago University.

David Foote

Independent Director

David is member of the Non Executive Team at Laguna Bay, an investment firm specialising in food and agriculture in the Australasian region. He has more than 45 years’ experience in agriculture, including as Managing Director of Australian Country Choice, one of the world’s largest family-owned, vertically integrated cattle and beef supply chain organisations. David is currently a current Director of Cattle Australia, a member of the Australian Government Agricultural Trade & Market Access Group. and is a former Councillor on the Australian Meat Industry Council and Board member of Workplace Health & Safety Queensland.

Tony Dodunski

Independent Director

Tony is the CEO go Ag Assist, which connects farmers with the people and services they need to run a successful farming operation. Hailing from a farming family, Tony was trained on the land and at Lincoln University, where he gained a BCom in Agriculture.

Tony is an equity partner in the Canterbury based Beaumaris Dairies Ltd.

Peter Bruce

Senior Operations Manager

A born and bred southern man, Pete started work on a sheep and beef farm straight out of school and advanced his skills in the industry with a Diploma of Agriculture and Bachelor of Commerce (Ag) at Lincoln University. He then gained two years’ experience on a 1,200 cow dairy farm in Canterbury before returning south to work on Dave and Kay’s home farm in 2004. With his partner Melinda, Pete bought into Peat View Dairies in 2011 and took over the role as full time supervisor with Fortuna Group in early 2015. Pete loves being a dad to Mia and Toby and when he catches a spare moment, he enjoys relaxing in the garden.

Tim Mackay

Chief Financial Officer

Tim is a true Southland local, who joined us from Great South where he was the General Manager Finance & Operations. With a Batchelor of Commerce in Accounting from the University of Otago, Tim brings with him a wealth of experience from accountancy roles in Invercargill. This includes his time at Great South (previously Venture Southland) in a complicated role where the numbers come under close scrutiny and have to be precise. Outside of work, Tim hopes that precision translates to the golf course as a skilled amateur. Down time is spent with his wife and two children, enjoying what Southland has to offer.

Kate Winter

People & Capability Manager

Kate joined Fortuna as Head of People in October 2022.  With a background in various leadership roles across multiple industries, Kate's experience has been vital to the successful development and implementation of the Fortuna People Strategy, including the establishment of the Fortuna Academy, where we are developing the dairy leaders of tomorrow.  Kate brings a flexible and adaptive approach to aligning values and building an inspired, high-performing team.  At the heart of it are the people - with Kate creating an environment where everyone feels valued and part of the company's success.

Lisa McVie

People & Capability Advisor

Lisa joined Fortuna Group in September 2025 after spending 17 years in the private hospital sector as part of the senior leadership team. 

In 2024, she stepped into Human Resources, driven by a passion for supporting people and helping staff and leaders grow, develop, and achieve their potential.

A proud Southlander, Lisa was born in Gore and has called Invercargill home since she was 17. Outside of work, Lisa loves spending time with her husband, Jason, and their two children, often escaping to their slice of paradise in the Catlins.

Rosie Hunter

Sustainability Manager

Rosie is the Sustainability Manager at Fortuna Group, working alongside farm teams to improve environmental outcomes in practical, real‑world ways. She supports compliance, sustainability planning, and on‑farm improvements across water, soil, effluent, and biodiversity – helping turn good intentions into action.
Rosie is almost considered a Southlander - having lived here for nine years. She is farming with her husband Regan on a beef and dairy support block near Mossburn, and enjoys rearing the calves. Outside of work Rosie is keen on physical challenges; Taupo 70:3, Coast to Coast, adventure racing, who knows what will be next.

Annalise Button

Accounts Officer

Annalise brings extensive administration and accounting experience to Fortuna Group. With a background in accounts, payroll, office administration, and business support, she enjoys keeping things organised and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes.

 Outside of work, Annalise is married with three children and loves spending time with her family, exploring New Zealand in their caravan, cooking, baking, and planning their next adventure.

Pater Atkin

Operations Manager

Pete (Pedro) Atkin joined Fortuna Group in 2026 as Operations Manager. He brings a strong background in dairy farming and leadership, having worked as a Farm Advisor/Supervisor, Production Manager for a large-scale dairy operation in Missouri, USA, and previously as a 50/50 Sharemilker.

Pete is passionate about supporting people and farm performance to achieve strong results. Outside of work, he enjoys dirt bike riding, cricket, squash, and watching rugby. He is also a proud father of three children and grandfather to two grandchildren.

Krystle Dodunski

Accounts Administrator

Krystle has been part of the Fortuna Group team for nine years, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to her role as Accounts Administrator. Before joining Fortuna Group, Krystle worked as a Preschool Teacher, before transitioning into finance and administration.

Outside of work, Krystle enjoys spending time with her two children, Benny the pup, and being surrounded by family.

Lynne Gray

Housing Coordinator

Lynne has been part of the Fortuna Group team for 13 years and plays an important role looking after our farm housing portfolio and supporting our tenants across the business.

Before joining Fortuna Group, Lynne spent much of her working life in the agricultural industry, including roles with a veterinary practice in Otautau and at the CRT Feed Mill.

Outside of work, Lynne enjoys spending time with her large blended family, which includes six children, two granddaughters, and one grandson. She also loves getting away to the family holiday home in Roxburgh, where she can relax and enjoy quality time with family and friends.
